VOLUNTEER WORK

Areola reconstruction through restorative dermopigmentation for breast cancer survivors.

Since 2015, Priscila Iwama and the Iwama team have dedicated part of their restorative work to providing areola reconstruction procedures through volunteer care initiatives at no cost for breast cancer survivors, beginning in Brazil and later continuing in the United States.

What began as restorative volunteer work gradually revealed something much deeper: for many women, reconstruction goes beyond physical restoration — becoming part of the process of feeling connected to yourself again after life-changing experiences.

Some scars carry far more than physical change. They carry memories, survival, grief, strength, and the quiet process of learning to recognize yourself again in the mirror.

Within the Iwama philosophy, restorative dermopigmentation is approached with the understanding that natural results are not only visual — they are emotional. The goal is never simply to “cover,” but to restore harmony in a way that feels integrated, respectful, and deeply human.

Over the years, this work became part of the culture carried by the Iwama team: approaching every patient with sensitivity, discretion, realism, and long-term care for both the skin and the emotional experience connected to it.

It is an honor for Priscila and her team to continue contributing to this restorative journey with deep respect for every story entrusted to their care.

Breast cancer survivors interested in learning more about these restorative volunteer care initiatives are welcome to contact our team for additional information and individualized guidance.

Love and gratitude,

 Priscila Iwama
